DP Parent Meeting presentations

We held a Diploma Programme (DP, 11th-12th grade) parent meeting on Thursday, October 4th. The topics included the IB core requirements for a diploma and AP/IB Exams.

PSAT - Wednesday, October 10th 2018

ALL 10th-11th grade students will take their PSAT at their home campus (McHi, Memorial, and Rowe)

Memorial 9th grade students will report to Memorial
Rowe 9th grade students will report to Rowe

McHi 9th grade students who did pay will report to McHi
McHi 9th students who did not pay for the PSAT will take the test at Lamar Academy 

Small group testing for 9-11th grade will take place at Lamar Academy (small group students received an email confirmation)

12th grade students will report to Lamar Academy. 

Things to remember:

1. Have your parents drop you off at your HOME campus by 7:30 a.m.

2. NO SUPPLIES will be needed. Pencils and Calculators will be provided by the home campus.

3. TAKE YOUR SCHOOL ID or a picture ID.

4. Testing will END at approximately 12:45 -1:00.

5. After testing, report to the BUS area. The bus will transport you back to LAMAR.

6. You will eat lunch at LAMAR from 1:00 – 1:30.

7. Teachers will be in their classrooms by 1:10 waiting for their students.

8. We do have limited cafeteria seating, so after you finish eating report to 4th block (B Day) so that other students can eat their lunch right after you.

9. Ninth graders from McHi (ONLY) that did not pay to take the PSAT will report to room 116 (at Lamar) to take a Mock test on Wed.

10. I will post ROOM ASSIGNMENTS by your ENGLISH classrooms once I receive them from the high schools.

MYP Parent Meeting Presentations

We held a Middle Years Programme (MYP, 9th-10th grade) parent meeting on Tuesday, October 2nd. The topics included the IB requirements for the MYP which are MYP Assessments, MYP Service, and the Personal Project, which is completed during 10th grade.

Summer Reading! Language and Literature

Hello students, 

Below, you will find the summer reading assignments for each grade level. The books for each grade level are:

English IV (Seniors) - How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster, Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon, the following poems by Carol Ann Duffy: “Education for Leisure” “In Mrs. Tilscher’s Class” “Nostalgia” “Brothers,” and you will watch the 1981 version of the movie On Golden Pond.

English III (Juniors) - How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and you will watch the movie Strangers on a Train (1951). 

English II (Sophomores) - House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. 

English I (Freshmen) - Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes by Edith Hamilton, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
Summer Reading Drop-In Days - Join your English I teachers in August to review your summer reading projects and ask any questions you may have before you turn in your assignments on Day 1 (August 27th).
